Living in Lincolnshire? Be part of LINQS and make a quilt that is inspired by any work of David Hockney's past or present. We have permission from David Hockney to do this. The work can be any technique or style including traditional but must have 3 layers so that it is a quilt. Quilts can be made by an individual or a group.
We ask that they be either 30 x 40 inches or if you want to do a miniture quilt - 30 x 40 cms. These are the proportions that Hockney often work in and we would like a uniform look for our travelling exhibition. If you want to make a larger impact several or other size quilts can be hung together to make one big design just like David Hockney arranged his canvases.
We are asking for a small contribution towards costs of £8 per person (non returnable) We will also be applying for grants. There will be no jury or prize and we plan that all quilts will be exhibited unless there is not enough space.
We are negotiating with several prestigious galleries to exhibit these works and also a quilt show organiser. We want to show the world what talent the quilts of Lincolnshire have!
Quilts should be completed by May 2015 but we hope to have several occasions before then for us all to meet, share ideas and progress and generally enjoy ourselves.
To register your interest and join us on this exciting journey please send a cheque for £8 made payable to Mary Jackson at 104 High Street, Billinghay, Lincoln. LN4 4ED.
